Well, this would have been my fifth year in a row running this race. However, surgery this past Wednesday has taken me out, and I have some pretty big races coming up this summer, so have to take it easy.
I still went over to support my friend Jared Schierbaum.
So off Jared went, and I took a little stroll over (cane and all) to a pizza joint and got some yummy fries while Jared ran 4 miles. I need to start doing this more often (instead of running with Jared, its much more enjoyable to eat while Jared does all the work).
and here comes Jared finishing up at 32:31, which is a fantastic time to run a hilly 4 mile run.
Now here is where I get choked up....Jared decided to attach my bib along with his own so that when he ran, we would finish together (as far as the results were concerned). The icing on the cake...his bib was on his front, mine was tucked in the back of his shirt....so he ran across the finish line backwards so that I could finish before him. Nothing but a class act.
and of course some post race beers at Casa de Bugey. I was out for two hours, and I was way more exhausted than Jared was (who ran 4 miles).
Now, just need to recover to get ready for The Bouncing Buns.
