Springtime Trip to the Philly Zoo

Springtime Trip to the Philly Zoo

Since the Schierbaums were nice enough to get us a membership to the zoo for 2015, we decided to take our first trip.  Since Ms. Mackenzie McCourt wanted to go to, we all piled in Megan Darling's mini-van and headed out to Philly.

The boys had been dying to go on the swan boats, so we finally had a chance to do that.

LaneyBug 5k (Nathan's first 5k Race)

LaneyBug 5k
West Chester, PA

Nathan's First 5K Race

The race was the usual 5k course in downtown West Chester.  We started in the back and took our time.  He had never run more than a mile before, so I wasn't quite sure how this was all going to play out.  We had to stop and walk maybe 3 times, each for less than a minute.  Aside from that though, he never stopped running, and never complained and wanted to quit.

I could not be prouder, and I can't wait for the two of us to do more races together.

Healthy Kids Running Series: Spring 2015 - Race 5 (of 5)

Healthy Kids Running Series: Spring 2015   -   Race 5 (of 5)
Rustin High School

Final race of the series.

Once again, Nathan did a great job of bringing up the rear.  3rd last place finish out of 5 races.  Nobody has more fun being in last than Nathan does.

Chris would have gotten a trophy if he finished in the top 3 overall.  He got 4th.  I was very proud of him though, because he didn't get upset.  He was totally fine with it.

Next season (Fall), they will be running together again.

Inagural Chesco Half Marathon

Inaugural Chesco Half Marathon

The Inagural Chester County Half Marathon out in Coatesville, PA.  By far, this was the most difficult road race I have ever run.  The hills were brutal.   It was way more difficult than I had anticipated.  Having said that, the race was fantastic.  The crowd support was really good.  I did have a couple beers somewhere around mile 10.  All-in-all, it was as flawless as an inaugural event could be.  I will definitely do this one again in the future.
