Christmas at Hershey

Hershey at Christmas

Cadence and Jillian Harder were in town, so Megan and I took the kids to Hershey Park for the day.
Wasn't too crowded.  Kids got on every ride they wanted to go on.  Nathan and Jillian got to on a roller coaster.  All the kids made it over to the zoo. We took a break and went out for dinner, and then over to the Sweet Lights (first time for Jilly and Cadence), before heading back to the park for a few more rides.

Probably our last Christmas trip to Hershey, as the kids are a little too old for it, but it was a great last trip.

Christmas at Sesame Place

Sesame Place

Before we made the trip up to Sesame Place, we first went to the PA Convention Center in Oaks, PA.  They had a model train expo going on.  We met Jared and Mike Schierbaum there and toured all the vendors.

The boys got to race model cars.

After that, we made our way up to Sesame Place to see all the Christmas stuff Sesame Place had going on.  We had season passes for 2014, so this was the last trip of the year.

For my sons, Nathan and Christopher:

One day, you are going to read this, and I want you to know that you both were total bastards this afternoon.  You had a jam packed weekend, and were both very cranky.  I should have known better.  Having said that, I truly hope that someday, my grandchildren will torture you both as bad as you tortured me today.

Dutch Wonderland

Dutch Wonderland
Lancaster, PA

Group trip to Dutch Wonderland for their Holiday Season
4 Bonnes
3 Bugeys
2 Darlings
2 Halls

What a great time.  With Mackenzie being there (as an adult), the adults outnumbered the kids 6-5.  Thats huge.  So much easier to keep things moving along with the adults outnumber the kids.  We toured the park for a few hours, walked over to Pizza Hut for dinner, then back to the park for a little more fun.  A wonderful evening to be had by all.

"Sons of Anarchy" series finale

Tonight was the finale of the greatest show ever.  The finale of "Sons of Anarchy."  I started watching this show back in late August of this year (about 3 and a half months ago).  They kept advertising that this would be the final season (7) premiering in September, and to go on Netflix and get caught up for "The Final Ride."  I gave it a shot and watched the series premier.  I thought it was ok, but nothing that got me excited to watch the next episode.  So the Friday of Labor Day weekend hits.  I decide to check out episode 2....and by the end of Labor Day weekend, I was finished the 3rd season (36 episodes).  That was some serious binge watching.

My problem with the show for he first few seasons is that I just couldn't buy Charlie Hunnum (Jax Teller) as a badass.  I know he was a good looking guy, and a lot of girls think he is hot, but I didn't think he really brought anything else to the table.  It wasn't until Season 5 that I really bought into him....and once I did, I was in all the way.

Songs:

This Life
John the Revelator
Hey Hey My My
The Lost Boy
The Day is Gone
Crash This Train
Bohemian Rhapsody
Till its Gone
Age of Aquarius
Make it Rain
Come Join the Murder

And then of course we had Katey Sagel as Jax's mom Gemma Teller.  Peg Bundy herself, only now she is a total badass.  She is married to the President of the Club, and reigns over the town of Charming like a Biker Queen.  I could never watch Married with Children again in the same way after seeing this series.

Theo Rossi as Juice.  Started out as a minor character, and they just gave him more and more to do.  By the end of the show, I thought he was the best performer.  His character is polarizing as the show goes on, as viewers balance their sympathies towards his actions.  Some people really loved him, others thought he was their least favorite.  The opinions on Juice are all over the place.  The opinions on Theo Rossi were not.

Tig and Happy.  The two bad asses of the group.  David Labarva (Happy) was not a real actor.  He was on the show as technical consultant.  The gave him a small part.  The great thing about Happy was that he didn't have to say a whole lot.  The less he said, the more effective he was.  Tig, well, I will just have to let you watch the show and have your own opinion on him.  Its better that way.

Venus Van Damn.....I don't even know where to start.

And of course everyone's favorite:  Opie
These 3 memes sum it all up.

A hero to the masses
To those born without chances
There's a freedom that everyone deserves

I know there's greed and there's corruption
I've seen death and mass destruction
And I'm telling you, and I hope that I am heard

I will not be commanded
I will not be controlled
And I will not let my future go on
Without the help of my soul

What made the show so good is how you they made you give a shit about the characters.  No show has ever done it like this one.  Binge watching 6 seasons, and then watching the last one live as it unfolded was by far the most enjoyable television experience I ever had.  Even if I was really only a part of it for the last season, I am so glad that I was.
