Harrisburg Senators game / Chocolate World

Harrisburg Senators Game
Harrisburg, PA

Since the boys had so much fun in June when we went, we thought we would try it again.  Same seats as last time, only this time we didn't get to them until the 4th inning.

Boys were having too much fun playing all the different games and getting wet in the splash zone.

And they got to run around the bases after the game, which was pretty cool.

What I really never realized is that Harrisburg is just a short 10 minute ride from Hershey, PA...and I also remembered that Chocolate World is free.  Since Hershey is in the direction home, we made a stop at Chocolate World.

They redid the tour.  We took a ride.  Chris was not having it.

And of course it was followed up by some chocolate before we hit the road.

I had two exhausted boys when I got home.  It was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday.

Good Neighbor Day

Good Neighbor Day
Downingtown, PA

So a few weeks ago, Ms. Ellen Beears shot me a note and asked if I was doing the Good Neighbor Day 5k, because she was doing so.  I thought it sounded like a good idea, so I said "I'm there!"

As we got closer to the race, I realized how much I hate running in hot weather, and I was just not in any type of shape or mood to run 5k on a day off, I asked myself "how do I get out of this?"

**BINGO!!!**

"Hey Nate!  How would you like to run a 5k on the 4th of July with your Godmother?"

"Sure, Dad.  That sounds awesome."

"Marvelous.  We'll surprise her that morning."

--Nate got to do a 5k with his Godmom
--Ellen got to do a 5k with her Godson
--I never gave Ellen a chance to even consider it by surprising her the day of the race with the news.  What was she going to do?  Say "no" to her Godson and break his heart.  Of course not.
--As wonderful as all this was, the most wonderful part is that I didn't have to run.

Nathan and Ellen before the race

So Chris, Ben, Addie, Shawn, and I watched the race.  Here we are at the start.

And here is my awesome runner, now a 2-time 5k finisher at the age of 10

Afterwards, they did have a few kids' races.  Addie did one, followed by Ben.  Finally Chris and Nate did a 1k race. (that makes 6ks for Nate on the day).

All the video footage is here.

Awesome day for The Bugeys and The Beears.
