Cerebrun

The Cerebrun
York, PA

CerebRun is the most interactive mud run in the world.  CerebRunners choose their own adventure by answering puzzles and problems throughout the course.  Correct answers will direct CerebRunners through 5 rugged miles of easier obstacles, smaller hills, and shorter mud crawls.  Incorrect answers will do the opposite and punish CerebRunners with 7 miles of steeper hills, wider monkey bars, and longer mud crawls.  CerebRun is the world’s first mental mud run, rewarding good decisions with easier routes, while punishing the rest, because life’s not only physical.

So I registered as a volunteer.  There were 4 heats, going off every hour.  If I volunteered for the first 3 heats, then I got to run the fourth heat for free.  I brought a chair and a camera, and just set up camp in front of the monkey bar obstacle, and just took pictures of everyone coming across for the first 3 heats.  I wasn't asked to do this, I did this out of the own goodness of my heart because I am such a wonderful human being.

I then ran the fourth heat, got a medal and tee-shirt, and called it a day.

Phillies 5k

03/23/2013

Phillies 5k for Charities
Citizens Bank Park
Philadelphia, PA

So, today marks the real start of the racing season for me.  A few months ago, John, Jared, and I signed up for the 3rd annual Phillies 5k for Charities.  This race is held down at the ballpark.  The Grahams were also in town for the weekend, so Tommy and Krissy did the race as well.  I also heard from an old friend from college, Mark Redwine.  He met up with us just in time for the start.

I don't know what it is about this weekend, but it is always freaking freezing.  This year, they actually gave out long-sleeve tech shirts, which was nice.

So after the race, we get to go inside the stadium.  We went down the right field foul line, behind home plate, and up the left field foul line.

I am a total snob when it comes to medals.  I think they should only be given out to half and full marathons.  The Broad Street 10 miler is such a staple to Philadelphia, that I consider that an exception.  Having said that, these medals for the Phillies 5k were really nice.
