Bournelyf Hand-to Hand 5k Run

Bournelyf Hand-to Hand 5k Run Oakbourne Park

Come out to the 2nd annual Bournelyf Hand-to-Hand 5K Run and Walk to help create scholarships for campers. Bournelyf Special Camp is a local non-profit organization that is committed to bringing challenging and empowering opportunities for children with disabilities. We greatly appreciate your help and we strongly welcome you to our community.

A nice evening 5k run at Oakbourne Park.  Notice, I did not say an "easy" run.  Some of it was run on grass, some on pavement, and of course some trail running.  Not to mention, it was a little hilly towards the end.

The director of the camp is Anne DeBenny.  Anne is an old friend of mine that goes back to kindergarden.  I knew Anne would be involved, but I did not know she was actually running the race.  It was great to see her and her family there.

Also saw Steve Potts and his family at the race.  Steve is on the board of directors for this camp.  He and his wife ran the race, while his father and brother Tommy watched his adorable twin girls.  I have also known Steve for years and years...going back to East Goshen Summer Rec, little league baseball, middle school soccer, and of course (my favorite Steve Potts sports memories) high school lacrosse.  Having never played before, Steve just decided to just pick up a stick his junior year and give it a shot.  If he had two more years of experience, it is frieghtening how good he could have been.  It was great to see him and his family as well.

This will certainly be an annual race for me.  It will be a few years before the boys can run it with me, but once they can, the most certainly will.
